Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino 2019
Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy
Produced by Tenuta Il Poggione, Il Poggione is one of the historic estates of Montalcino and a benchmark producer of traditional Brunello. The 2019 vintage is widely regarded as outstanding, combining classical structure with purity, balance, and impressive ageing potential.
A classic, traditionally styled Brunello di Montalcino. Structured and elegant, with bright acidity, firm yet refined tannins, and layered savoury complexity built for long-term ageing.
Appearance:
Deep ruby with garnet reflections at the rim.
Nose:
Complex and expressive. Aromas of sour cherry, red plum, and dried strawberry are layered with rose petal, dried herbs, tobacco leaf, leather, and subtle earthy undertones.
Palate:
Full-bodied and finely structured. Concentrated flavours of red cherry, cranberry, and plum are supported by vibrant acidity and firm, well-integrated tannins. Savoury notes of tea leaf, balsamic hints, spice, and mineral tones add depth and classic Brunello character.
Finish:
Long, savoury, and persistent, with lingering red fruit, spice, and refined tannic grip.
An exceptional vintage in Montalcino. Balanced growing conditions produced wines of purity, freshness, and structure. The 2019 vintage is considered one of the finest of the decade, delivering Brunellos with both immediate harmony and outstanding ageing potential.
