Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia
The Eye of Ra 2018 is an ultra-rare and monumental expression of old-vine Shiraz, representing the pinnacle of Ben Glaetzer’s winemaking, crafted only in exceptional vintages.
Sourced from ancient, low-yielding Shiraz vines in the Barossa Valley—many well over a century old—The Eye of Ra is produced in extremely limited quantities. Only the finest parcels are selected, making this wine a true collector’s piece.
The 2018 vintage, regarded as outstanding, offers remarkable concentration, precision, and balance. Matured in high-quality French oak, the wine achieves extraordinary depth while preserving purity and structure.
The nose is intensely aromatic and complex, with notes of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, layered with hints of dark chocolate, espresso, spice, and subtle smoky nuances.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet impeccably balanced, with a dense core of dark fruit supported by velvety, finely integrated tannins. Layers of cocoa, licorice, and mineral undertones add depth and sophistication.
The finish is exceptionally long and persistent, with lingering notes of fruit, spice, and refined oak.
