Nose:
Fresh, vibrant, and beautifully expressive, opening with aromas of black cherry, cassis, ripe plum, blackberry, violets, Mediterranean herbs, cedar, sweet tobacco, cocoa, and subtle spice. Delicate notes of graphite and wild rosemary emerge with aeration, giving the wine lift and sophistication.
Palate:
Medium to full-bodied and beautifully layered, revealing flavours of blackcurrant, dark cherry, ripe plum, blackberry, licorice, cocoa, cedar, and earthy minerality. Rich and generous, yet remarkably fresh and energetic, the palate balances ripe fruit with elegance and precision. The 2023 vintage shows excellent purity and immediate charm while retaining structure and seriousness.
Structure:
Medium to full-bodied with fine, polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and seamless balance. Created by the legendary Tenuta San Guido, Guidalberto was originally intended to complement Sassicaia, offering a more approachable and earlier-drinking expression of the estate’s philosophy. Aged in French and American oak for approximately 15 months, the wine balances richness and refinement while allowing the fruit and Bolgheri terroir to shine.
The 2023 vintage appears especially vibrant and expressive, with freshness and aromatic lift complementing the wine’s natural generosity.
Finish:
Long, polished, and beautifully persistent, lingering with dark berries, cedar, spice, cocoa, tobacco, and mineral freshness. Elegant, harmonious, and highly drinkable.
Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2023 continues the remarkable consistency of one of Italy’s most respected Super Tuscan wines. Crafted by the legendary estate behind Sassicaia, Guidalberto offers a more accessible and fruit-forward interpretation of Bolgheri, while still maintaining exceptional quality, refinement, and ageing potential.
Compared with Sassicaia, Guidalberto tends to be more generous, softer, and approachable in youth, thanks to its higher proportion of Merlot, while retaining Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure and aromatic complexity. The result is a wine that consistently overdelivers—equally suited to immediate enjoyment or medium-term cellaring.

The 2023 Tuscany vintage experienced warm conditions balanced by cooling coastal influences, allowing grapes to achieve excellent ripeness while preserving freshness and aromatic intensity. In Bolgheri, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot produced wines of purity, balance, and expressive fruit character. At Tenuta San Guido, the result is a Guidalberto of energy, harmony, and excellent drinkability.
