STAG’S LEAP WINE CELLARS – Cask 23 Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
Napa Valley, California, USA
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cask 23 2008 is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic Cabernet Sauvignons, produced from the estate’s historic S.L.V. (Stag’s Leap Vineyard) and FAY Vineyard parcels in the celebrated Stags Leap District.
The name “Cask 23” originates from a special barrel identified in the early 1970s that showed exceptional quality. Today the wine is crafted as a blend of the finest lots from the estate’s two vineyards, combining the structure of S.L.V. with the aromatic elegance of FAY.
Deep ruby with garnet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum, layered with notes of violet, cedar, tobacco, and graphite. On the palate the wine is rich, elegant, and beautifully integrated, offering flavours of ripe black fruit, cocoa, espresso, and sweet spice, supported by refined tannins and a long, polished finish.
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc
Sourced from FAY and S.L.V. vineyards in Stags Leap District
Aged in French oak barrels
Structured, elegant Napa Valley Cabernet
Perfect with prime rib, grilled steak, lamb, venison, and aged cheeses.
The 2008 vintage is now beautifully mature, showing layered tertiary complexity while still capable of aging another 10–15 years.
