Napa Valley | Cabernet Sauvignon–Merlot Blend
Winemaker: Philippe Melka
The 2014 Proprietary Red from Roy Estate is a striking reflection of this boutique Napa estate’s meticulous farming and Melka’s precision-driven winemaking. Sourced from the property’s lower-elevation vineyard parcels—where richer soils yield wines of plush texture and generous fruit—the 2014 is a powerful, complex, beautifully balanced Bordeaux-style blend with unmistakable Napa opulence.
Layered and expressive. Aromas of blackberry, cassis, and ripe black cherry rise from the glass, intertwined with violet, graphite, and warm baking spices. Secondary notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, mocha, and freshly crushed herbs emerge with air, giving depth and refinement.
Full-bodied and elegant with a luxurious mouthfeel. The palate shows concentrated dark fruit—blackcurrant, blueberry, and boysenberry—supported by silky, polished tannins. Hints of dark chocolate, espresso, licorice, and sweet oak give richness, while a subtle mineral edge and lively acidity add lift. Perfectly balanced between power and finesse.
Long, refined, and persistent. Notes of cocoa, black fruit, spice, and graphite linger, framed by velvety tannins and a graceful, seamless fade.
The 2014 Roy Estate Proprietary Red is a sophisticated, beautifully crafted Napa blend—rich, polished, and expressive, yet never heavy. Drinking exquisitely now with a short decant, but still capable of aging gracefully for another 8–10 years.
Ideal pairings include braised lamb shank, grilled ribeye, truffle pasta, or aged Comté.
