A beautifully approachable Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Côte d’Or, Poulleau 2024 offers the purity, freshness and delicacy that make everyday red Burgundy so appealing.
Made from 100% Pinot Noir, this is an elegant, fruit-driven expression with bright cherry and raspberry character, subtle spice, fine tannins and restrained oak. It offers genuine Burgundian character without the weight or seriousness of the domaine’s village and higher-level wines.

The Bourgogne Côte d’Or designation identifies wines produced from vineyards within the prestigious Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune area, giving this regional Burgundy a more specific geographical identity than standard Bourgogne Rouge.
Nose: Fresh and expressive, led by red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, with touches of blackberry, liquorice, delicate spice and subtle oak.
Palate: Supple and immediately appealing. Juicy red and dark fruits are carried by fresh acidity, with fine tannins providing gentle structure. There is enough concentration to give the wine substance while maintaining the lightness and elegance expected from Pinot Noir.
Structure: Light-to-medium-bodied, fresh and beautifully balanced, with soft tannins and restrained oak influence.
Finish: Clean and elegant, with lingering red cherry, raspberry, spice and a gentle earthy note.
The Poulleau family has been producing wine in Burgundy since 1960, with vineyards centered around Volnay and the Côte de Beaune.
The estate has traditionally worked approximately eight hectares of vineyards, including holdings in Volnay, Beaune, Chorey-lès-Beaune, Aloxe-Corton and Côte de Beaune.
The vineyards are farmed using a reasoned approach to viticulture, with considerable emphasis placed on vineyard work, manual harvesting and expressing the individual character of each terroir.
The 2024 vintage represents an important transition, as the wines vinified by Thierry Poulleau are being distributed under the Maison Poulleau name following his retirement.
The 2024 vintage in Burgundy produced wines generally characterized by freshness, aromatic definition and moderate concentration.
For Pinot Noir, this makes for an attractive, classical style—bright fruit, energetic acidity and elegance rather than excessive ripeness or weight.
Poulleau's Bourgogne Côte d’Or is particularly suited to this style, emphasizing fresh fruit and drinkability.
Drink now–2030
This is designed primarily for enjoyment while relatively young, when its cherry, raspberry and floral character is at its brightest.
There is no need for extensive decanting. Opening the bottle approximately 20–30 minutes before serving should be sufficient.
Serve slightly cool at approximately 14–16°C.
A wonderfully versatile Pinot Noir. Pair with roast chicken, duck breast, pork tenderloin, veal, charcuterie, mushroom risotto, grilled salmon, roast vegetables and soft cheeses.
Its freshness and relatively gentle tannins also make it an excellent red wine for dishes that might normally be paired with white wine.
An excellent introduction to red Burgundy and a particularly attractive wine-by-the-glass candidate.
Poulleau's Bourgogne Côte d’Or delivers exactly what many guests are looking for from an accessible Burgundy: bright Pinot Noir fruit, freshness, elegance and a genuine sense of place without excessive weight or oak.
For The Tasting Room, I particularly like this as a 5 oz by-the-glass Burgundy. It gives guests a recognizable step into the Côte d’Or before moving upward to Poulleau's Beaune, Volnay or Aloxe-Corton bottlings.
The Tasting Room Rating: 91/100 — Drink Now • By the Glass • Excellent Value
