Colchagua Valley, Chile
Montes Purple Angel 2020 is an iconic and powerful expression of Carmenère, showcasing the depth, richness, and elegance that have made it one of Chile’s most celebrated wines.
Produced primarily from old-vine Carmenère, with a small proportion of Petit Verdot, Purple Angel is sourced from select vineyards in the Colchagua Valley. The wine reflects meticulous vineyard management and careful vinification, aimed at achieving concentration while preserving balance.
The 2020 vintage offers ripe fruit, structure, and refinement, with the wine aged in French oak barrels to enhance its complexity and texture.
The nose is intense and expressive, with aromas of blackberries, plum, and cassis, layered with notes of dark chocolate, spice, tobacco, and subtle herbal nuances characteristic of Carmenère.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and opulent, with a rich core of dark fruit supported by velvety tannins and a smooth, polished texture. Hints of mocha, sweet spice, and graphite add depth and sophistication.
The finish is long, powerful, and elegant, with lingering notes of dark fruit, spice, and refined oak.
