The Wine

First produced in 1974, Insignia is a Bordeaux-style blend crafted from estate vineyards across Napa Valley. The 2017 vintage is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

Despite the challenges of the vintage, meticulous vineyard selection and winemaking have resulted in a wine of remarkable concentration, structure, and harmony. Aging in French oak barrels enhances complexity while maintaining purity and finesse.

Tasting Notes

The nose is rich and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark cherry, layered with notes of cocoa, tobacco, graphite, and subtle spice.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with a dense core of dark fruit supported by polished tannins. Layers of chocolate, espresso, and mineral undertones add depth and sophistication.
