HAMPDEN ESTATE – HLCF Classic Rum
Trelawny Parish, Jamaica
Hampden HLCF Classic is a powerful Pure Single Jamaican Rum from the historic Hampden Estate distillery, famous for producing intensely aromatic high-ester Jamaican rums using traditional methods.
This expression is made using the HLCF mark (Hampden Light Continental Flavoured), one of the distillery’s high-ester styles. It is produced from molasses, fermented with wild yeasts in open vats, and distilled in traditional double-retort copper pot stills.
The rum is bottled at 60% ABV, delivering remarkable intensity while maintaining balance and complexity.
The HLCF mark is known for its very high ester concentration — around 400–600 g/hlpa, far above most commercial rums — giving it the unmistakable “funky” Jamaican character.
Golden in colour with explosive aromatics. The nose reveals overripe pineapple, banana, citrus peel, and spice, alongside hints of raw sugarcane and tropical fruit.
On the palate it is bold and complex, showing flavours of grilled pineapple, caramelised banana, ginger, oak spice, and roasted nuts, finishing long with warm spice and tropical fruit.
