GAJA – IDDA Sicilia Bianco 2023
Sicily, Italy

Gaja IDDA Bianco 2023 is a refined white wine from the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna, created through the collaboration between the Gaja family and Sicilian winemaker Alberto Graci. The name “Idda” means “she” in Sicilian dialect, referring to Mount Etna itself and the powerful terroir that shapes this wine.

The Wine

Produced entirely from Carricante, Etna’s noble white grape, the wine reflects the high-altitude vineyards of Biancavilla and Belpasso, located roughly 600–800 meters above sea level on volcanic soils. These conditions give the wine remarkable freshness, minerality, and aromatic precision.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour with green reflections. The bouquet reveals citrus, lemon zest, white peach, and floral notes, layered with hints of wild herbs, flint, and saline minerality. The palate is vibrant and textured, offering flavours of pear, grapefruit, and stone fruit, balanced by lively acidity and a long, mineral-driven finish.
