Grand Cru Chablis | Crystalline, Mineral, and Exceptionally Refined
Region: Chablis Grand Cru, Burgundy, France
Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Style: Elegant, mineral-driven, precise, and age-worthy
Nose:
Elegant and beautifully lifted, with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, ripe citrus, white peach, wet stone, oyster shell, and delicate brioche. Subtle notes of toasted lemon peel and chalky minerality add complexity and refinement.
Palate:
Focused and exceptionally refined, revealing layers of citrus, green apple, white peach, crushed limestone, and saline minerality. Richly textured yet beautifully restrained, showing remarkable purity and crystalline precision. The palate balances generosity with tension and freshness.
Structure:
Medium to full-bodied with vibrant acidity, extraordinary minerality, and exceptional balance. Les Blanchots is often regarded as one of Chablis’ most elegant Grand Crus, prized for finesse and aromatic purity rather than sheer power. Domaine Laroche ages this cuvée for approximately 16 months, combining French oak and stainless steel to preserve both texture and freshness.
Finish:
Long, saline, and beautifully persistent, lingering with wet stone, citrus blossom, chalk, and delicate maritime freshness.
Domaine Laroche’s Les Blanchots Grand Cru represents one of the crown jewels of Chablis. Les Blanchots is one of the seven Grand Cru climats of Chablis, situated on prized Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in fossilised marine sediments that contribute the region’s famous minerality. Domaine Laroche is a major owner in this climat, farming approximately one-third of the vineyard.
Often described as the “queen” of the Grand Crus for its elegance and finesse, Les Blanchots tends to produce wines of purity, charm, and aromatic precision, especially compared with some of the more powerful neighbouring Grand Cru sites. The 2023 vintage is beautifully balanced, combining generosity of fruit with exceptional freshness and classic Chablis tension.
The 2023 Chablis vintage delivered wines of excellent quality and balance. Warm conditions aided ripening while careful harvest timing preserved freshness and minerality. Domaine Laroche’s parcel-by-parcel approach resulted in wines showing both richness and precision, with the 2023 Grand Crus displaying exceptional purity and ageing potential.
