Premier Cru Chablis | Mineral, Precise, and Elegantly Powerful
Region: Chablis Premier Cru, Burgundy, France
Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Style: Mineral-driven, refined, vibrant, and beautifully structured
Nose:
Elegant and expressive aromas of white blossom, lemon zest, green apple, ripe pear, white peach, crushed stone, flint, and subtle saline notes. Delicate floral character is layered with classic Chablis minerality and citrus freshness.
Palate:
Focused and beautifully textured, revealing flavours of citrus, orchard fruit, white peach, grapefruit, and chalky minerality. Richer and more layered than village Chablis, yet maintaining remarkable freshness, precision, and tension.
Structure:
Medium-bodied with vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality, and excellent balance. The Fourchaume terroir, often considered among the most prestigious Premier Crus of Chablis, delivers both power and elegance with outstanding energy.
Finish:
Long, refined, and saline, lingering with citrus, white flowers, wet stone, and a beautifully persistent mineral freshness.
Domaine Laroche is one of Chablis’ most respected producers, with deep roots in the region and significant holdings across many of its finest vineyards. Their Fourchaume Premier Cru is sourced from one of Chablis’ most celebrated Premier Cru sites, located on the right bank of the Serein River, where Kimmeridgian limestone soils closely resemble those found in Grand Cru vineyards.
The 2023 vintage delivers a beautifully balanced expression of Fourchaume—combining precision, freshness, and classic Chablis minerality with slightly greater generosity of fruit due to the warmth of the vintage. This is a wine of finesse and sophistication, equally compelling in youth or with moderate cellaring.
The 2023 Chablis vintage produced wines with freshness, concentration, and excellent aromatic purity. Careful vineyard management and balanced ripening resulted in wines showing both generosity and classic tension, particularly in the top Premier Cru sites such as Fourchaume.
Now: Drinking beautifully with freshness and precision
