Bonnes-Mares is one of the great Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte de Nuits, straddling the boundary between Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis.
Domaine Georges Lignier owns a tiny parcel of approximately 0.28 hectares, planted in 1920.
These remarkably old vines naturally produce very small quantities of concentrated fruit, giving the wine extraordinary depth while retaining the finesse and perfume Bonnes-Mares is celebrated for.
Production is extremely limited, typically around 1,200–1,400 bottles.
The domaine follows a traditional approach, carefully selecting the fruit and partially destemming it.
The wine is matured in small Burgundy barrels, with approximately 40% new oak, allowing the exceptional concentration of the old-vine fruit to absorb the oak while gaining additional texture and complexity.
Nose:
Highly expressive, with blackberry, raspberry and dark cherry alongside violet, rose petals and fresh flowers. With air, subtle notes of spice, mint and balsamic complexity emerge.
Palate:
Deep and concentrated, with layers of ripe red and dark fruit carried by vibrant acidity. Despite its power, the texture is remarkably supple and refined, with fine tannins and impressive mineral definition.
Structure:
Full and concentrated by Burgundy standards, yet beautifully balanced. Dense old-vine fruit is supported by fresh acidity and finely structured tannins, giving the wine considerable aging potential.
Finish:
Exceptionally long and composed, with lingering dark fruit, spice, flowers, and a distinctive saline-mineral character.
Domaine Georges Lignier & Fils Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru 2022 is one of the domaine's rarest and most prestigious wines.
The combination of a tiny Grand Cru holding, vines planted in 1920, and extremely limited production makes this wine genuinely rare.
The generous 2022 vintage brings impressive fruit concentration, while the natural structure of Bonnes-Mares provides the freshness, tannin, and mineral tension necessary for long-term development.

Drink: 2028–2048+
Preferred Window: 2032–2045
The 2022 is still extremely young.
You can certainly open it earlier if you enjoy powerful young Grand Cru Burgundy, but this bottle rewards patience.
If you open it before 2030, allow about 1 hour in the glass or open bottle, tasting periodically rather than aggressively decanting.
From the early 2030s, the concentrated fruit, oak, and tannins should integrate further, and the wine should begin revealing significantly greater secondary complexity.
With bottle age, expect:
Dried Cherry · Rose Petal · Tea Leaf · Forest Floor · Leather · Mushroom · Truffle · Savoury Spice
Well-stored bottles should continue developing beautifully throughout the 2030s and 2040s.
Serving Temperature: 16–17°C
Recommended Pairings:
Duck Breast · Pigeon · Quail · Guinea Fowl · Veal · Lamb · Beef · Venison · Wild Game · Porcini · Morels · Black Truffle · Époisses · Aged Comté
A bottle for the serious Burgundy collector.
The combination of Grand Cru terroir, nearly century-old vines, and tiny production makes this a wine worth cellaring rather than rushing to open.
When the time comes, pair with roast pigeon, duck breast with morels, or venison with black truffle.
Serve at about 16°C in a large Burgundy glass, letting the wine unfold gradually throughout the meal.
