A magnificent expression of one of Champagne's most celebrated prestige cuvées, presented in the highly desirable 1.5-litre Magnum format.
Dom Pérignon 2012 combines remarkable intensity with precision and freshness—a powerful yet beautifully controlled Champagne showing ripe stone fruit, citrus, white flowers, toasted brioche and an increasingly complex mineral character.
The Magnum format adds another dimension, allowing the wine to evolve more slowly and gracefully while creating an impressive centerpiece for celebrations, dinners and collectors.
Region: Champagne, France
Producer: Dom Pérignon
Vintage: 2012
Grapes: Chardonnay & Pinot Noir
Style: Prestige Cuvée Vintage Brut Champagne
Bottle Size: Magnum — 1.5 Litres
Dom Pérignon is exclusively vintage Champagne. Each release represents a single harvest, and the Maison will choose not to declare a vintage when it believes the year cannot achieve the desired harmony. The wines undergo extended maturation on the lees, with at least eight years required to elaborate a Dom Pérignon Vintage.
Nose:
Initially restrained and elegant, it gradually opens to reveal white flowers, citrus blossom, ripe apricot, and peach. With air, deeper notes of toasted brioche, almond, cocoa, subtle spice and crushed stone emerge.
Palate:
Generous and energetic. Ripe orchard and stone fruits are balanced by grapefruit, lemon zest and a pronounced mineral freshness. The texture is broad and silky yet exceptionally precise, with the vintage's natural richness held beautifully in check by vibrant acidity.
Structure:
Powerful, concentrated and finely sculpted, with an exceptionally fine mousse and a tension between richness and freshness that gives the 2012 remarkable energy.
Finish:
Long, saline and persistent, leaving impressions of citrus, toasted almond, chalk and subtle smoky minerality.
The 2012 Dom Pérignon is a Champagne of contrasts: generous yet precise, powerful yet refined.
The growing season presented significant climatic challenges, but favorable conditions toward harvest ultimately produced fruit of exceptional concentration. Dom Pérignon transformed that intensity into a wine that combines depth and generosity with the tension, minerality, and harmony characteristic of the Maison.
Dom Pérignon's philosophy centers on vintage expression and extended maturation, with time on the lees playing a central role in developing the wine's precision, intensity, texture, minerality and complexity.
Presented in Magnum, the 2012 becomes an especially compelling cellar and celebration bottle. The larger format generally encourages slower evolution, helping preserve freshness while allowing the Champagne's secondary and tertiary complexity to develop gradually.
2012 was a challenging but ultimately exceptional Champagne vintage.
A difficult growing season reduced yields, but the fruit that survived reached impressive levels of maturity and concentration. The resulting wines combine richness and power with excellent acidity—qualities particularly well suited to Dom Pérignon's long maturation philosophy.
The vintage is already wonderfully expressive but retains the structure and energy required for extended bottle aging.
Drink now – 2045+
The 2012 is already entering a beautiful stage, combining youthful fruit and freshness with developing notes of brioche, toast, nuts and spice.
In Magnum, however, there is little reason to hurry. Properly cellared bottles should develop beautifully for decades, gradually gaining notes of hazelnut, pastry, dried citrus, honey and toast while retaining impressive freshness.
Serving Temperature: 10–12°C
For a mature or carefully cellared Magnum, allow the Champagne to warm slightly in the glass rather than serving it excessively cold.
The richness and structure of Dom Pérignon 2012 make it considerably more versatile at the table than a simple aperitif Champagne.
Excellent with:
Osetra Caviar · Oysters · Lobster · King Crab · Seared Scallops · Turbot · Dover Sole · Roasted Langoustines · Truffle Risotto · Roast Chicken · Veal · Aged Comté · Parmesan
The Tasting Room Recommendation:
A spectacular Champagne for a special dinner. Begin with Imperial Gold Osetra caviar, then allow the Magnum to remain on the table through lobster, scallops, or a delicate truffle course.
The combination of the exceptional 2012 vintage and Magnum format also makes this an outstanding choice for a serious Champagne collector or a memorable luxury gift.
