Château La Croix de Certan is a small and highly respected family-owned estate in Pomerol, producing wines that are known for elegance, finesse, and exceptional balance. Often overshadowed by some of the region’s larger names, Croix de Certan remains something of an insider’s gem, consistently offering authentic Right Bank character and excellent value.
The 2021 vintage is notably more classical and restrained than the richer 2018–2020 vintages, favouring freshness, aromatic complexity, and structure. This is a wine of subtlety and refinement, appealing particularly to lovers of traditional Bordeaux.
The 2021 Bordeaux vintage was cooler and more challenging than recent years, resulting in wines with lower alcohol, higher freshness, and more classical proportions. In Pomerol, careful vineyard work was essential, and successful estates produced wines with elegance, aromatic precision, and excellent balance rather than sheer power.
Croix de Certan’s 2021 shows admirable poise and charm, offering early accessibility while retaining medium-term ageing potential.
