Clos Cristal 2018 is a historic and distinctive expression of Cabernet Franc, renowned for its elegance, precision, and unique vineyard character within Saumur-Champigny.
Produced from the iconic Clos Cristal vineyard, originally established in the late 19th century, this wine is crafted from Cabernet Franc grown on limestone-rich soils. The vineyard’s unique training system—where vines grow through openings in low stone walls—helps protect the grapes while enhancing ripeness and balance.
The 2018 vintage, marked by warmth and excellent conditions, delivers both concentration and freshness, resulting in a wine that is expressive, refined, and age-worthy.
The nose is aromatic and complex, with notes of redcurrant, raspberry, and black cherry, complemented by hints of graphite, herbs, and subtle floral nuances.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegant, with a vibrant core of red fruit supported by fine tannins and a distinct mineral backbone. Nuances of spice, earth, and gentle herbal notes add depth and character.
The finish is long, fresh, and precise, with lingering notes of fruit, minerality, and refined structure.
