Winemakers Notes.
Château Phélan Ségur 2016 (Saint-Estèphe)
This deeply colored and complex red opens with aromas of blackberry, cherry, and strawberry, evolving into notes of toasted oak and licorice. On the palate, it delivers a smooth entry, consistent freshness, and a dense, harmonious tannic structure, leading to a powerful, enduring finish. Professional reviews highlight its concentration, firm tannins, and earthy “dark soul,” with nuances of walnut and smoke. While approachable from 2021, it retains the structure to age gracefully for eight to ten years or more.
