The 2018 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest modern releases from Château Lynch-Bages. Following a challenging, rain-filled first half of the growing season, a long, hot and exceptionally dry summer produced grapes of remarkable concentration and phenolic ripeness. The resulting wine possesses extraordinary depth, silky tannins and outstanding ageing potential, representing one of the benchmark wines of the vintage.
The growing season was defined by two contrasting phases: persistent rainfall through early July followed by ideal warm, dry conditions from mid-July until harvest. Harvest took place between 19 September and 9 October, with the fruit arriving in perfect sanitary condition and displaying exceptional concentration. Following fermentation, the wine matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (75% new), preserving the estate's hallmark structure and elegance.
