Summary

Despite the frost challenges experienced across Bordeaux in 2017, the vineyards of Lynch-Bages were largely protected by their proximity to the Gironde Estuary. The result is a remarkably successful vintage that combines the estate's signature power with freshness, precision and exceptional tannin quality. While approachable earlier than some legendary vintages, it possesses the structure to reward long-term cellaring.

Vintage Notes

Following a dry winter and an early growing season, harvest took place from 18 September to 5 October, approximately one week earlier than in 2016. The estate escaped the devastating spring frosts that affected much of Bordeaux, allowing the grapes to reach excellent maturity. The wine was matured for 18 months in French oak barrels (75% new), preserving the hallmark depth and complexity of Château Lynch-Bages.
