Nose:

The bouquet perfectly captures classic Pauillac character. Critics have particularly highlighted notes of graphite, pen ink, cedar, tobacco, and dark currants in mature bottles.
Palate:
Full-bodied, layered, and beautifully harmonious, revealing flavours of cassis, black cherry, plum, cedar, licorice, espresso, dark chocolate, tobacco, and mineral freshness. Rich and concentrated, yet remarkably poised, with mature complexity emerging while still retaining impressive vitality and structure.
Structure:
Medium to full-bodied with velvety, beautifully resolved tannins, vibrant freshness, and extraordinary balance. The 2000 vintage is widely regarded as one of the finest Lynch-Bages ever produced—combining Pauillac power with unusual elegance and harmony. Aged for approximately 15 months in French oak (70% new barrels), the wine has evolved into an exceptionally polished expression of mature Bordeaux.
Finish:
Exceptionally long, polished, and persistent, lingering with cassis, graphite, cigar box, cedar, spice, and mineral tension. Noble, refined, and unmistakably Pauillac.
Château Lynch-Bages 2000 is widely regarded as one of the estate’s greatest modern achievements and a benchmark mature Pauillac. Though officially classified as a Fifth Growth, Lynch-Bages has long been considered a celebrated “Super Fifth”, consistently outperforming its classification and rivaling many Second Growth estates.
The 2000 Bordeaux vintage produced wines of remarkable concentration, balance, and longevity, and Lynch-Bages excelled spectacularly. Critics have described it as “one of the all-time great examples of Lynch-Bages”, praising its seamless combination of power, elegance, and longevity. The wine earned exceptional acclaim, including 97 points from Robert Parker and Jeb Dunnuck, 96 Wine Spectator, and 95 James Suckling.
Today, the wine sits in a magnificent drinking window, offering beautiful tertiary complexity while still retaining decades of life for well-stored bottles.
