Nose:
Deep, seductive, and extraordinarily expressive, opening with layers of black cherry, blackberry, plum, crushed raspberry, violets, rose petals, graphite, licorice, cedar, exotic spice, and crushed limestone minerality. Château Canon’s famed limestone plateau gives the wine remarkable freshness and aromatic lift beneath its richness.

Frequently described as “an iron fist in a velvet glove”, the 2015 possesses both immense concentration and remarkable refinement.

Château Canon 2015 is widely regarded as one of the great wines of the outstanding 2015 Bordeaux vintage and, by many critics, the finest wine ever produced at Château Canon. Situated atop the famed limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, Canon produces wines of extraordinary precision, freshness, and longevity, combining Right Bank richness with remarkable mineral tension.
The 2015 vintage proved transformational for Canon. Warm, dry conditions delivered extraordinary fruit quality, while the estate’s ongoing vineyard improvements under the ownership of Chanel elevated the wine to an entirely new level of excellence. Critics awarded extraordinary praise, including 100 points from James Suckling, Antonio Galloni, and multiple leading critics, cementing the wine’s reputation as one of Bordeaux’s modern masterpieces.
Compared with the richer and more opulent 2009, the 2015 combines generosity with greater freshness and precision, while offering a slightly more sensual and approachable profile than the classical 2010. It is already stunning but still remains at the beginning of a very long life.
The 2015 Bordeaux vintage is regarded as one of the strongest vintages of the modern era, characterised by warm, dry conditions and exceptional fruit ripeness balanced by freshness. In Saint-Émilion, Merlot and Cabernet Franc excelled, producing wines of richness, aromatic intensity, and remarkable balance. Château Canon particularly flourished, crafting a wine of extraordinary depth, precision, and ageing potential.
