Nose:
Beautifully evolved and deeply expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, cedar, cigar box, tobacco leaf, graphite, leather, dried herbs, forest floor, and subtle spice. Mature Pauillac notes of pencil shavings and earthy complexity are beginning to emerge gracefully.

Refined and beautifully balanced, showing layers of blackcurrant, plum, dark cherry, cedar, tobacco, graphite, cocoa, and savoury spice. The palate balances maturity with freshness, delivering classic Pauillac structure while now revealing secondary complexity and softer edges.
Structure:
Medium to full-bodied with firm yet beautifully integrated tannins, vibrant acidity, and classic Left Bank structure. Château Batailley is known for producing traditionally styled Pauillac with excellent ageing capacity, and the 2005 vintage offers both concentration and remarkable balance. The wine was matured in approximately 55–60% new French oak, contributing subtle spice and refinement.
Finish:
Long, savoury, and persistent, lingering with cassis, cedar, cigar box, mineral freshness, and earthy complexity. Elegant and classical rather than overtly opulent.
