CATENA ZAPATA – Adrianna Vineyard “River” Malbec 2021
Mendoza, Argentina
Produced by Bodega Catena Zapata, the Adrianna Vineyard “River” Malbec is one of the most celebrated single-vineyard Malbecs in Argentina. The wine comes from a tiny parcel of the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary, located in the high Andes foothills of the Uco Valley.
Adrianna Vineyard sits at nearly 1,400–1,500 meters above sea level, one of the highest vineyards in Mendoza. The extreme altitude brings intense sunlight and cool mountain temperatures, producing small, concentrated berries with remarkable structure and minerality.
The “River” parcel (often referred to as River Stones) lies on an ancient riverbed filled with limestone and stones, which contributes to the wine’s distinctive mineral and elegant character.
Made from 100% Malbec, this wine is fermented and aged with great precision to highlight the purity of the fruit and the expression of the high-altitude terroir.
Deep purple in colour. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, violets, and crushed stone rise from the glass. The palate is powerful yet remarkably refined, showing flavours of dark plum, black fruit, spice, and mineral notes, supported by silky tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and layered.
