A beautifully precise, mineral-driven Premier Cru Meursault, combining the depth of Chardonnay from Meursault with remarkable tension, freshness, and stony intensity.
Perrières is renowned for producing some of the most refined and mineral wines of the appellation, and the 2024 captures that character particularly well. Citrus, green apple and white flowers are layered with crushed stone, subtle smoke and saline minerality.
More restrained and linear than Charmes, this is a serious, age-worthy white Burgundy that should become increasingly complex with bottle age.
Region: Burgundy, France
Subregion: Côte de Beaune
Appellation: Meursault Premier Cru AOC
Premier Cru: Perrières
Vintage: 2024
Producer: Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur
Grape: 100% Chardonnay
Style: Dry White Burgundy
Perrières is one of the most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards of Meursault, prized particularly for its combination of concentration, finesse, and pronounced mineral character.
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur owns just over 0.25 hectares in Perrières-Dessous, immediately above Charmes on the slope.
The domaine planted its Chardonnay vines here in 1983.
Perrières consistently produces the most intensely mineral white wine in the Bitouzet-Prieur cellar, with a tightly structured, almost saline character that can be quite restrained in youth but develops remarkable complexity with bottle age.
The wine is fermented and matured in Burgundy barrels with extensive lees contact.
Élevage lasts approximately 16 months, with around 25–30% new oak.
The oak provides texture and gentle spice without obscuring the distinctive mineral character of the vineyard.
Nose:
Initially restrained, gradually revealing lemon, green apple, and white flowers alongside crushed stone, subtle smoke, and a distinctive wet-stone character.
Palate:
Precise and tightly structured, with citrus and orchard fruit carried by vibrant acidity. The mid-palate develops greater depth with air, revealing subtle spice and impressive mineral concentration.
Structure:
Medium to full-bodied, but defined more by tension and precision than richness. Fine acidity and pronounced minerality give the wine exceptional energy and aging potential.
Finish:
Long, stony and beautifully focused, with lingering citrus, saline minerality and subtle spice.
Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault Premier Cru Perrières 2024 is a serious and beautifully classical expression of one of Meursault's greatest Premier Cru vineyards.
Where Charmes tends toward greater breadth and generosity, Perrières is about precision, tension, and minerality.
The 2024 vintage accentuates these qualities beautifully, producing a Chardonnay of remarkable freshness and definition that should reward several years of bottle aging.
Lemon · Green Apple · White Flowers · Crushed Stone · Smoke · Spice · Saline Minerality
Drink: 2028–2042+
Preferred Window: 2030–2038
The 2024 is still very young and currently showing the compact, mineral structure typical of young Perrières.
While it can be opened earlier for its youthful tension and energy, I would ideally cellar this bottle until around 2029–2030.
With additional bottle age, the tightly wound citrus and mineral character should broaden and become increasingly complex.
Expect developing notes of:
Preserved Lemon · Ripe Pear · Hazelnut · Acacia · Wet Stone · Smoke · Saline Mineral
If opening young, allow about 30–45 minutes in the glass or open bottle before serving, rather than serving directly from the refrigerator.
Serving Temperature: 11–13°C
Recommended Pairings:
Osetra Caviar · Oysters · Lobster · Langoustines · King Crab · Scallops · Turbot · Dover Sole · Sea Bass · Roast Chicken · Veal · Morels · Mushroom Risotto · Comté
A superb bottle for lovers of mineral, structured, and age-worthy white Burgundy.
Within the Bitouzet-Prieur range, choose Charmes for greater richness and generosity; Perrières for greater tension, precision and mineral intensity.
Pair with Osetra caviar, seared scallops, turbot or Dover sole, or allow several years in the cellar before serving with roast chicken and morels.
Serve at approximately 12°C in a generous Burgundy glass.
