BILLECART-SALMON – “Nicolas François” Brut 2008
Champagne, France
Champagne Billecart-Salmon “Nicolas François” 2008 is one of the house’s flagship vintage cuvées, named in honor of Nicolas François Billecart, founder of the estate. It represents a masterful balance between power and elegance, combining the richness of Pinot Noir with the finesse of Chardonnay.
Sourced from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards, this cuvée is typically a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, vinified partly in oak for added complexity and aged extensively on lees to develop depth and texture.
The 2008 vintage in Champagne is exceptional, widely regarded as one of the greatest of the modern era, marked by precision, structure, and incredible aging potential.
Brilliant pale gold with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is complex and layered, offering citrus zest, green apple, and white peach, alongside notes of toasted brioche, hazelnut, chalk, and subtle spice. The palate is precise, structured, and beautifully balanced, with flavours of lemon curd, pear, almond, and pastry, finishing long, mineral, and elegant.
