Altamira, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
Achaval Ferrer Finca Altamira 2020 is a single-vineyard Malbec of exceptional precision and elegance, expressing the unique terroir of Altamira with remarkable purity and depth.
Sourced from old vines planted in the Altamira appellation within the Uco Valley, this wine reflects a high-altitude terroir defined by alluvial soils rich in limestone and stones. These conditions contribute to the wine’s structure, minerality, and refined character.
Crafted with a minimal-intervention approach, the wine is aged in French oak to enhance complexity while preserving the integrity of the fruit and the expression of the vineyard.
The 2020 vintage offers both concentration and freshness, resulting in a wine of balance, tension, and aging potential.
The nose is precise and aromatic, with notes of blackberries, violets, and plum, complemented by hints of graphite, spice, and subtle floral nuances.
On the palate, it is elegant and structured, with a vibrant core of dark fruit supported by fine, chalky tannins and a distinctive mineral backbone. Layers of cocoa, spice, and earth add depth and complexity.
The finish is long, refined, and persistent, with lingering notes of fruit, minerality, and gentle spice.
